AI Software Engineering Intern

Location: London

Software Engineering Intern:

Our client is seeking an exceptional engineering intern to join them and work directly alongside our expert Software and Machine Learning Engineers. This is a hands on roll, you will contribute to the agent infrastructure of our client's product, push the product forward through blue sky projects, and have direct impact on a product that expert lawyers use every day.

About our client:

About our client:

As AI continues to reshape the legal sector, many existing platforms remain broad in scope, offering general support across a wide range of legal tasks. However, meaningful adoption within enterprise legal teams is still developing, particularly when it comes to tools capable of supporting complex, high-stakes legal work.

Our client is addressing this gap by building technology designed specifically for deep, workflow-focused legal analysis rather than surface-level automation. Their platform is centred on precision, accuracy, and practical application within critical legal processes. By prioritising specialist functionality over broad feature sets, they are creating tools that integrate more naturally into the way legal professionals actually work.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and develop our agentic infrastructure
  • Partner with the technical team to ideate, develop, and execute innovative, forward-looking (“blue sky”) initiatives that enhance and evolve the Wexler product.
  • Contribute to customer-facing interfaces that allow legal professionals to interact seamlessly with the product
  • Work alongside AI engineers to integrate LLM capabilities into production systems
  • Participate in technical architecture discussions and learn engineering best practices from a strong founding team
  • Think about the problems that matter most: delightful agentic experiences, performance at scale, and enterprise-grade security

Technical Skills:

  • Back-end: Proficiency in Node.js / TypeScript or Python — ideally both. Comfort writing clean, testable server-side code.
  • Databases: Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred). Understanding of schema design and querying.
  • Front-end: Exposure to a modern JS framework (React is our stack). Able to translate product ideas into clean UI.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Any experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines or containerisation is a bonus — not a requirement.
  • AI / ML: No prior AI experience is required. Curiosity about LLMs and how they work is all we ask.

You will be:

  • A 2026 graduate (or 2nd-year) studying Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related field
  • A builder — you have personal projects, hackathon experience, or open-source work that demonstrates you love creating things
  • Intellectually curious and excited by the once-in-a-generation platform shift happening in AI
  • Full-stack and comfortable getting stuck in wherever needed, be it a customer-facing feature, an internal tool or a performance fix
  • Energised by a start-up environment: priorities move fast, customers are close, and your work ships the same week it’s written
  • Someone who values working with people who are low ego, ambitious and pragmatic
  • Comfortable figuring out how to build things you haven’t built before, and asking smart questions when you need to
  • Based in (or willing to relocate to) London for the internship.

What our client offers

  • Real ownership: You will be designing and building the core systems that power AI for some of the most expert users in AI
  • Mentorship from experienced software and machine learning engineers, including direct access to the founders
  • A clear path to a full-time Software Engineer role for outstanding interns
